Fungus gnats; they are annoying, but treatable!

It's going to take a few different steps to battle them which is why we built this handy kit.

1. Fungus gnats breed in wet soil, so stretch out your watering by a few extra days. Consider bottom watering your plants so that the top inch of soil is not as wet.

2. Use sticky traps to capture the adults. Each adult can lay over 100 eggs in your plants so this alone will not be enough to get rid of them for good. Use these to monitor the situation and problem plants.

3. Diatomaceous Earth: Sprinkle on the soil surface. This doesn't look very pretty but is a very effective way of killing gnats in just a few weeks. The layer of DE will kill any insect that touches it so larvae can't leave the surface of your plant. Safe to use indoors but wear a mask when using as the dust can be irritating to your lungs.

4. Mosquito Dunks: Put a small piece in your watering can and let it soak in the water for 24 hrs or longer for it to become active. Water plants as normal. The pieces won't dissolve so you can use the same piece a few times.

No one step will get rid of them, so employ a few different methods.

Notes: Sprays and other pest-treatments won't work because they wont live on the leaves. Don't waste money on those products.
